Kathleen Pierce Johnson, of Crossett, was called home on May 6, 2012. She was born to Leo and Mose Pierce on May 15, 1915. Kathleen grew up in Crossett Camp and later resided in Crossett until 2004 when she moved to Searcy, Arkansas, to live with her daughter, Sara Richardson.

On December 23, 1936, Kathleen married Robert Wesley Johnson who was employed by Crossett Lumber Company until he retired in 1972. They were married 63 years. Before marrying Robert, Kathleen attended the Crossett School of Nursing at the Crossett Hospital. Although she enjoyed nursing, Kathleen loved being a stay at home mother more. She always felt there was no greater career than that of being a mother.

Kathleen was an active member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She enjoyed working in the church, her family and traveling.

After Robert retired, they traveled throughout the United States, Mexico and Europe. Of all their travels, their favorite time was the summer they spent exploring Alaska in their Volkswagon camper.

In addition to traveling, Kathleen's hobby was genealogy. She believed that everyone should know his or her heritage. Remarkably, she traced her family history to Charlemagne and her research led her to become a charter member of the Colonial Dames, XVII Century, DeSoto Chapter, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims, the Magna Charter Dames and a life member of the Society of Descendents of Knights of the Most Noble Order of the Garter. Kathleen was also generous with her time and extraordinary research skills as she happily assisted others in tracing their family heritage.

Kathleen's husband, Robert, preceded her in death in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her son Robert Wayne, her grandson Robert Wayne, Jr., her sister Helen Meeks, and her brother John Pierce.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Russell Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery.
