John Robert Pierce, 87, of Hope, formerly of Crossett, died Monday, February 12, 2007, at the Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, TX. Born August 13, 1919, in Crossett to Mose and Leo Redding Pierce, he worked for Crossett Lumber Co. for 46 years and retired from Georgia-Pacific as a timber buyer. He was a Baptist and U. S. Army veteran of World War II with service in the Philippines.

Survivors include three sons, Lane Pierce and wife Billie of Bradley, Paul Pierce and wife Becky of Searcy and Bob Pierce and wife Judy of Hope; one daughter, Susan Johnson and husband Jim of El Dorado; one sister, Kathleen Johnson of Crossett; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Hazel Perdue of Crossett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Chloe Maxwell Pierce in 1986; two sons, John H. Pierce and Anthony Ralph Pierce; and one sister, Helen Meeks.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 15, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope with Rev. Earl Cumbie officiating. Grave-side services were held at 3 p.m. at Pinewood Memorial Park.
