HOSIER, CHARLES Birmingham native and Naval Aviator Captain Charles Stone Hosier, Sr. made his final flight to be with the Lord on October 20, 2011. It would be with the same grace and fortitude with which he flew that he would fight a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. His sister and angel of mercy, Leona Hosier Hand, his children and his closest family were those among him prior to his passing. Captain Charles "Chuck" Hosier Sr., United States Navy, was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps Reserve through the NAVCAD (Naval Cadet) program in 1954. He received his Aviator Wings in October of 1955. He later was granted an inter service transfer from the Marine Corps to the United States Navy. Amongst his many assignments throughout his 32 years of distinguished military service were - Commanding Officer of Training Squadron Twenty Seven (VT-27) at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi and Commandant of the NATO Weapons School in Oberammergau Germany. He amassed over 4000 flight hours and over 500 carrier arrested landings. He retired in 1986. Captain Hosier is survived by his two children, Charles, Jr. and Kristin, two grandsons, Charles, III and Samuel, his sister, Leona and two brothers, Alan and Mark.
