Obituary in Lufkin Daily News, Friday, April 8, 1932
(courtesy of Carolyn Smith)

Mrs. S. A. Cunningham, age 81 years, a resident of Corrigan for the past quarter of a century, and mother of R. L. Cunningham of this city, passed away at her home there yesterday at noon, and the remains were interred in the Corrigan Cemetery this morning at 11 o'clock, with Rev. Hardy, Baptist minister of that place in charge.

The funeral was a very sad and impressive one, with this beloved citizen of Polk county laid to rest in the presence of a large concourse of friends, many of whom were from Lufkin. Pallbearers were 5 sons of the deceased and a son-in-law.

Many beautiful floral offerings were in evidence with the funeral arrangements being in charge of Markus Gipson of the Glenn Undertaking Company. The services being held at the cemetery, which were attended by an outpouring of that community, including friends of long standing and lovers and admirers of this splendid old lady who only lacked a few months of having reached the age of 82.

The deceased was the widow of T. M. Cunningham, who died 21 years ago, and by whose side she was interred yesterday, and is survived by 5 sons, a daughter, and a number of grandchildren.
