Rev Stephen Kralich officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. Rosary was recited Friday evening at the church. Pallbearers were Otis Schwartz, Jim Schoemer, Allan Essler, Blondie Pumarlo, Anton Thiel and Joe Verlinde. Sorensen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Schammel was born April 7, 1894, in Rose Creek, Minn. to Nick and Margaret Cress. She married Frank Schammel in Rose Creek Sept. 27, 1922. They moved to Elmdale Township, Ward County, and farmed there until 1956, then moved into Kenmare. Mr. Schammel died in 1969. Mrs. Schammel was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Verlinde of Noonan; a son. Dr. Francis Schammel of Stoughton, Wis.; and eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Schammel was the last survivor of a family of eight children, having been preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.
