Teresa M. Little of Cranford, N.J., passed away on Friday, July 2, 2010 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She had bravely faced pancreatic cancer for well over a year and was also a breast cancer survivor.

A Funeral Mass is planned for Thursday, July 8, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, 40 Alden St., Cranford, N.J. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield N.J. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Ave West, Cranford, N.J, (908) 276-0255.

Mrs. Little, the daughter of Peter A. and Marie S. Dirr, was born in Queens, N.Y. on Dec. 12, 1925, the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and grew up in Richmond Hill. She lived in Cranford for 45 years.

She graduated from Our Lady of Wisdom Academy, Ozone Park, N.Y., and attended Hunter College, New York City. Mrs. Little worked for prominent doctors in Brooklyn, N.Y., a noted neurosurgeon, an orthopedic surgeon, and also the radiologist for the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team.

She loved to work in her garden which was surrounded by multiple mature trees and shrubs. She was a very early proponent of the organic gardening movement and naturally raised numerous varieties of vegetables and plants. Each year she donated many home-grown potted plants to the Master Gardener's Plant Sale and also her church's Holiday Fair.

Mrs. Little was a volunteer at the St. Michael's Church rectory in Cranford as well as a volunteer at St. Michael's school.

She greatly enjoyed spending much time with her grandchildren and supporting them at their various sporting events and shows.

Mrs. Little is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Frank M. Little; by her devoted children, Laurence M Little of Bergen County, N.J. and Celeste M. Dolan of Cranford; by her dear grandchildren, Kenneth C. Dolan, Christian S. Dolan and April C. Dolan; by sisters, Helen M. O'Brien of Wilmington Del.; Catherine M. Amberson of Goshen, N.Y.; Anne M Hannon of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Sabina M. Grimmelbein of Wilmington, Del., and by brother, James A. Dirr of Atlanta, Ga.

She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Marie C. Zimmerman, Peter G. Dirr, John P. Dirr M.D., Gertrude M. Kane, Joseph F. Dirr, Francis A. Dirr, Margaret M. Vasak, and by her dear son-in-law, John P. Dolan.
