Jason Rice, 27, of Marshalltown, died Monday morning, May 28th, near Rhodes. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. The funeral procession will take him on one last lap at the Marshalltown Speedway on the way to the cemetery and all are invited in his memory to wear appropriate attire- racing shirts, blue jeans, etc. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the burial back at the funeral home hospitality room.

Born on January 19th, 1980, in Anaheim, California, he was the son of Larry and Gayle (Smith) Fricke. He received his elementary education in Marshalltown, junior and senior high in State Center and graduated from the West Marshall High School.

On Valentine's Day of 2004, he was united in marriage to Julie Reynolds at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. They made their home in Marshalltown where he was employed at KIOWA and most recently at Ryerson Tull Coil Processing. He was passionate about racing and was a member of the IMCA and the UAW. He treasured his sons Brady and Jadyn.

Left to mourn his loss are his wife, Julie, sons Brady and Jadyn, his parents Larry and Gayle Fricke of rural Clemons, brother Scott (Billie Jo) Rice of Liscomb and their daughter Peytience, grandparents William and Joan Fricke of rural Marshalltown and Rex and Shirlee Murphy of Grinnell, his in-laws J.R. and Anita Reynolds of Marshalltown, Cyndy and Mike Curnes of Beaufort, South Carolina and sister-in-law Lesa (Aaron) Haughey of Tama, nieces and nephews, his racing family, numerous friends and other relatives.

On death he has rejoined his grandparents Chalmer and Voda Smith and uncle Dennis Smith.
