Vernon Bryant, 43, Fatally Injured When Car Slips From Jack
Vernon Bryant 43, of Lisbon Center, was accidentally killed Saturday night, when the car he was working under apparently slipped from the supporting jack. He was found in a crouched position under the left rear part of the car. According to Deputy Coroner Everett McKeown of Oswego he suffered a broken neck and broken ribs, and death was piratically instantaneous. Bryant went to the garage at 7 o'clock in the evening and was discovered dead by his wife, Audrey, at 8 o'clock.
Bryant, father of four children, ages four to 12, was employed at Lyon Metal Company in Aurora. He was a veteran of World War II.
His father, a brother and a sister preceded him in death. He was a member of the Wasco American Legion Post.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon from the Larson Funeral Home in Yorkville, the Rev. Walter Phelps of the Plattville Methodist Church officiating. Pallbearers were Lee Gardner, Robert Nichols, Richard Naden, William Fletcher, Vernon Johnson and Gerald McKanna.
Mrs. Blance Fitch played selections at the funeral home. Graveside services at the Plattville cemetery were by the Wasco American Legion Post.
