Robert Franklin Grubaugh was born 3 Apr 1882 in Delaware, OH to Wilson Shannon Grubaugh and Mary S. Hinton. There are several alternate years given as his birth year (1880 from World War II Draft Registration, 1881 from World War I Draft Registration), but the 1882 year is supported by the LDS data base of Ohio Births & Christenings, 1821-1962, his death certificate and his obituary. He married Bessie Esther Hazelton on 4 Apr 1902 in Delaware County and they had 6 children, one, Paul Wilson Grubaugh, dying at a very young age. His obituary reads as follows:

R. F. Grubaugh Dies after Short Illness
Robert Franklin Grubaugh, 64, died in his home at 579 West Columbia Street at 6 a.m. today. He had suffered a stroke and was seriously ill the last few days.
Born April 3, 1882, in Delaware County, he was a son of Wilson and Mary Hinton Grubaugh. April 9, 1903, he married Bessie Hazelton. A resident of Marion since 1910, he came here from Delaware, and was an erection foreman at the Marion Power Shovel Co. plant. He was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Delaware.
Surviving are his widow, four children, Walter W. at home, Mrs. Helen Thompson of New York City, Mrs. Dorothy Thomas of 223 Bain Avenue and Mrs. Mary Alice Cooper of near Caledonia, a brother, W. S. Grubaugh of San Pedro, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. J. A. Greenart of Hutchinson, Kan.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:30 pm in the Grubaugh home by Rev. L. E. Rush of the Methodist Church in Mr. Gilead. Burial will be in Forest Glen Memorial Park.
