Married Sarah Vandervliet. The daughter of Jan Dirkse and Geertie Van der Vliet. He was a farmer. All the family of Joseph Hegeman removed after his death, to Nine Partners, Pleasant Valley, Dutchess Co., where they bought land near their uncle Francis Hegeman, son of Joseph (b.1647), who had moved there in 1724. The three boys with their brother-in-law Hendrick Lott, who operated a mill here, seven miles back of Poughkeepsie. 1741: Joseph Hegeman's will leaves all property to wife SARAH until she remarries, then to sons John Hegeman (1715-1795), Hendrick Hegeman (1717-1746); Find A Grave Memorial #89836872 and Joseph Hegeman, Jr. (1719-1747) who are to pay 150 pounds each to their three sisters. Joseph, Hegeman Jr., who died in 1747 at Crum Elbow, NY married Sarah Berrisher. Sarah Berrisher, after Joseph Jr.'s death married John Fox and became widowed again and next married Barant Bond. Widow Sarah Bond dies and is buried in Pleasant Valley church. On her stone is enscribed: MOTHER OF JOSEPH AND JOHN HEGEMAN. SHE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST SETTLERS OF THIS PLACE. DIED 1803, AGE 83.
