PETER STRICKLETT, 66, BLAIR NATIVE IS BURIED SUNDAY
Peter Stricklett, Sr., age 66, a native of Blair, died at his home in a southwest apt. of this city last Thursday evening. Although he had not enjoyed good health for several years his passing was a shock to the family and friends.
He was born February 2, 1870. Mr. Stricklett's birthplace was less than half a miles from the home in which he died. He was one of thirteen children born to John and Mary Stricklett, county pioneers. With the exception of a few months spent in the south he lived his entire life in Washington County. He married Esther Bouvier December 24, 1902 and to them were born six children, Mrs. Dorothy Anderson, of Omaha; Peter Jr. of Blair; Mary, Inabelle, Coral Jean and Roger, residing at home.
In addition to the wife and children Mr. Stricklett is survived by five brothers, Charles, dick, Joe, Frank of Blair; john of Omaha; three sister, Mrs. Laura Cleaver of Missouri Valley; Mrs. Mattie Jensen, Mrs. Katie Campbell of Blair; and three grandchildren; Louis and Esther Anderson and Ronald dean Stricklett. A sister, Cynthia Hineline, died in 1925 and two other sisters and a brother died in early childhood.
The Rev. Arthur S. Newell of Lincoln, former pastor here, in charge. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the local Congregational Church. A large throng of friends attended the services. Intermentt was made in the Blair cemetery.

Stricklett Family Holds Reunion this week
The children of Mrs. Peter Stricklett were all together last week for the first time since 1943. Present for the reunion were Mr. And Mrs. Francis B. Anderson of Willow Springs, Mo., Mr. And Mrs. Tom Powell and Tommy of Falls Church, VA., Mr. And Mrs. Rodney McVicker and two children of Albion in addition to Mr. And Mrs. Peter Stricklett Jr., Mr. And Mrs. Rogert ( this is how it was spelled in the paper) Stricklett and Mary Stricklett. The Andersons have returned to their home but Mrs. McVicker and children, and the Powells are remaining for a longer visit. Mr. and Mrs. George Strain. Mrs. Strickletts granddaughter, and her husband, are expected this weekend for a ten-day visit. Their home is in Cabool, Mo.

Peter Stricklett, Sr. passed away Thursday evening, October 10, at his home in southwest Blair. He had been in failing health for some time, but his last serious illness was not of long duration. Deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stricklett who were pioneer settlers of this county.
He was born February 2nd, 1870, and with the exception of a few months spent in the south, he has spent his entire life in and about Blair.
On December 24, 1902 he was married to Esther Bouvier, also a native of this county, and to them six children were born Mrs. Dorothy Anderson of Omaha; Peter, Jr. of Blair; Mary, Isabelle, Coral Jean and Roger at home.
Deceased was one of a family of thirteen children and he is survived by five brothers, Charles, Dick, Joe and Frank of Blair and John of Omaha and three sisters, Mrs. Laura Cleaver of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Mrs. Kate Campbell and Mrs. Mattie Jenson of Blair and three grandchildren, Louis and Esther Anderson and Ronald Dean Stricklett.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the Congregational church with Rev. A.F. Newell of Lincoln officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
Thus passes another of the older settlers who knew the county in its early days of pioneering when the history of the county was in the making.
