He was born Feb. 17, 1899, in Oxford, son of Stephen and Clara Holdridge Vrooman. He enlisted in the Navy Jan. 21, 1919, served on a minesweeper and was discharged Jan. 15, 1923.
He married Adah Prosser in New Berlin in 1926. She died in Fairfield in 1932. On Jan. 19, 1936, he married Gertrude Hammond in Ilion. They resided in Cedarville. In 1942 they moved to Richfield Springs and came to Waterville in 1953 where he operated a roller skating rink.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Charles Turner, Hubbardsville, and Miss Donna Vrooman, at home; a son, Harold, serving with the Army at Fort Bliss, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. John Spafford, Greene, and Mrs. Clarence Ferrin, Cedarville and two brothers, Cleon F., Herkkmer and William B., Richfield Springs; also four granddaughters.
Burial will be made in the Spring in Cold Brook Cemetery.
