B. Grant Pugh, age 94, died May 6, 2012.

He was born to Byron R. and Florence Pugh and married Helen Keeley in the Salt Lake Temple.

He was graduated from Granite High School, University of Utah (B.S.), and University of California Berkeley (M.A.), where he was named the Willard D. Thompson Memorial Graduate Scholar. While at the U of U, he was affiliated with Pi Kappa Alpha, Tau Kappa Alpha, Phi Kappa Phi, and Owl and Key.

Grant served an L.D.S. mission in the Northwestern States Mission and later in various church callings, including Stake High Council, bishopric, and in the former calling of Stake High Priest Presidency.

Grant served as a commissioned naval officer in World War II aboard the battleship U.S.S. Indiana and was the recipient of seven battle stars.

He shared his love of history, teaching at Granite High School for twenty years and is remembered still by his students. He was known for his diligence, honesty, and hard work.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen. He is survived by his children, Marilyn Caldwell (Roy), Richard G. Pugh (Jan), and B. Charles Pugh (Jewel), twenty grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, a brother Spencer Pugh, sister-in-law Beverly Reed (Chick), and brother-in-law Arthur Keeley (Nadine).

Friends may call at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley Mortuary, 1007 West South Jordan Parkway (10600 South), on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral services held on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Winder Seventh Ward Building, 4350 South 1100 East.
Interment will follow in the Elysian Burial Gardens.
