Nonagenarian, 79 Years Here, Dies From Fall

Mrs. Caroline Baudendistel, for 79 years a resident of Alton, and they had of a long line of descendents, died Sunday morning from the effects of a fall she suffered a week before in her home, 1124 E. 6th St.

She fractured her left hip in the fall, and from the first there was no hope for her recovery, as she was in her 91st year. The end came at 4 o'clock on the morning of New Year's Day. She was 90 years, 7 months and 1 day old at the time of her death.

Mrs. Baudendistel was born in Heinrichdorf, Germany, coming to this country when very young and to Alton when she was 11 years of age. Here she grew up and spent all of her life, rearing her family of children, and seeing her posterity lengthen out until, beside her own six children, she could count 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Her children are Mrs. Sherman Slemmons, Mrs. Phillip Busack, Mrs. William Holland, Valentine Baudendistel, Mrs. Catherine DeVries, of Alton and Henry Baudendistel of Indianapolis, Indiana. She leaves also one brother, Louis Horn, of Brighton, and one sister, Mrs. Henrietta Knollhoff. The funeral was held this afternoon at 230 o'clock from the stream for funeral home and burial was in the city Cemetery.
