She was a retired grocer and homemaker who attended Old Cordova School and was a member of Bethany Christian Church. Malissa was blessed by good health and a strong spirit who proudly insisted on living in her own home and taking care of herself until the last few months of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by seven of her nine brothers and sisters, and by her husbands, Cecil U. Greer and Gyp Jamerson.
She is survived by her brother, Bobby Hooker of Oakland, TN, her sister, Evangeline Rutledge of Augusta, GA, her three sons, Norman Greer (Emily) of Oakland, Larry Greer (Flo) of Bartlett, TN, Don Greer (Ellen) of Nashville, TN and her stepson, Ronnie Jamerson (Sandy) of Moscow, TN She also leaves two grandchildren, Lauren Greer and Kevin Greer as well as one great-granddaughter, Isabella Oliva.
Services will be held at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 18th with visitation before the service beginning at 1 p.m.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that any memorials may be made to Bethany Christian Church, Eads, TN 38028.
