Michael R. Johnsen, 16, of Bloomington, Ill., formerly of Porter Township and a Boone Grove High School student until six months ago, died Thursday in a Bloomington hospital of injuries suffered three hours earlier in a motorcycle accident.
Born May 29, 1954 at Fort Sill, Okla., he was a son of Richard A. and Joyce (Maudlin) Johnsen, both of whom survive. He was preceded in death by a stepbrother, David A. Leib, last Nov. 21.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, Bloomington.
Surviving besides his mother, Mrs. Joyce L. Vowell, Bloomington, and his father, Richard Johnsen of Valparaiso, are a brother, Paul Alan Johnsen, Bloomington; his maternal grandfather, Harold J. Maudlin, Valparaiso; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Fannie M. Johnsen, Valparaiso; two stepbrothers, Edward Leib Jr. and James Eugene Leib, both of Valparaiso; two stepsisters, Mrs. Roger (Judith) Steel, Valparaiso, and Mrs. George (Mary) Bergstrom, St. Paul, Minn.

John M. Sayre, First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today. A grandmother, Mrs. Richard A. Johnsen, Valparaiso, is among survivors.
