Etta Catherine Foss, daughter of Claus and Tena Eilers Foss, was born November 27, 1876 in Gage County, Nebraska, northeast of Adams. She was baptized in the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Sterling on December 16, 1876. She was confirmed in April, 1895 by Rev. Dierks in St. Johannes Church, Febing, Nemaha County, Nebraska.

Mr. Agena died in 1955, and for the 18 years since his death his widow resided in the Kress home. She was fond of handwork and as long as her health permitted she was always busy and was kind and helpful to those about her.
She is survived by two daughters; Mrs. Wike (Lena) Harms of Buena Vista, Colorado and Mrs. Raymond (Loretta) Kress of Sterling. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
