Thomas, born circa 1475 at Bishop's Stortford, had an unknown wife who was buried in 1514, when he was charged for 'waste of torchis' at her burial. Thomas was a chaundler, or candle maker, of Bishops-Stortford, a churchwarden there in 1521, 1522 and 1536. He was living 19 Mar 1548 and died between 1548 and 1551.

Chandler Family researchers have nothing that would agree with the statement that he was the son John Chaundler and Jane Gitton, and married to Mary Agnes Tate.
