Charles W. LaBarge. 87, of this village died at 8:45 a. m. Friday at Mercy General Hospital, where he had been a patient in the extended care unit about three years. Funeral services were held at 9 a. m. Monday at Holy Name Church. Interment will be in Holy Name Cemetery here in the spring. He was born at Derrick, then a thriving little lumber town but long since vanished from the Adirondack scene, on Jan. 23, 1881. the son of Antoine and Orilee Forkey LaBarge. The family moved to Tupper Lake among the early settlers. He worked as a young man at Stony Wold Sanatorium. and at the Gold Medal Bakery here. Mr. LaBarge served as pastry chef at the American Legion Mountain Camp on Big Tupper. Hotel Saranac. and at Kellaher's Restaurant in Lake Placid, and about 30 years ago, went to Florida with the Kellahers to cook at the Clearwater Beach Hotel. In October. 1961, after suffering a stroke, he returned to Tupper Lake, and with brief exceptions, had since been a patient at Gabriels, and at Mercy General Hospital. Surviving are his wife, Addie Amell LaBarge: two daughters: Mrs. Wilbur (Veronica) Barrette and Mrs. Oscar (Beatrice) Corneau; three sons: Edgar and Drummond LaBarge, Tupper Lake, and Clarence LaBarge of Yonkers: one brother, 94-year-old William LaBarge, Tupper Lake, and one sister, Mrs. Edward (Minnie) Wood of Ottawa. Ont; also 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
