James R. Fisher, 75, 922 Sixth Ave., died Tuesday at is residence following a sudden illness.
Born Dec. 31, 1908, in Iowa City, he attended schools there. He was a World War II veteran. He married Sadie Eash, Nov. 22, 1962, in Ely, Minn. She died in 1980. He was employed as a brick mason for Wally Zahs Construction Co. and the Frantz Construction Co., both of Iowa City, before retiring in 1974.
Survivors are a sister, Margaret Penland of Iowa City; and a brother, David of Fergus Falls, Minn.
Service: Saturday, 11:30 a.m., Beckman-Callahan's with the Rev. Daniel Mackey. Friends may call after noon today at the funeral home,where a wake service will be held at 7:30 tonight. Burial: Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials to the University of Iowa Kidney Research.
