HEADLEY, WOODROW WASHINGTON "WOODY", of Centerpoint, Alabama; beloved husband, father and grandfather born February 22, 1924 in Birmingham and passed away March 4, 2002 at the age of 78. Woody was a graduate of Hewitt Trussville High School and served in the Navy during World War II. He married Hazel Natalie Ellis of Greenville, South Carolina on December 23, 1944 in Birmingham. They were blessed with the birth of one son, Woodrow Ellis Headley. Woody was a troop leader and lifelong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. He was an active member of The Sons of Confederate Veterans, Forrest Camp and The Sons of the American Revolution where he served as treasurer of the Birmingham Chapter. He was a member of Ruhama Baptist Church and most recently Huffman Baptist. Woody loved life and blessed so many with his encouragement and his wonderful sense of humor. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert F. Lee Headley and Ada Falkner Headley; his wife, Hazel Ellis Headley; son, Woody F. Headley of Tuscaloosa
; and brothers, Willis, Leland and Caroll Headley. Hc is survived by his granddaughter, Robin Bakkegard and husband, John of Birmingham; daughter-in-law, Jackie Headley of Tuscaloosa; brother, Erskine L. Headley and wife, Vivian of Birmingham; aunt, Thelma Falkner White of Jacksonville, FL.; uncle, Noland Falkner of Pensacola, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews and many loving friends. Visitation will be Friday, March 8 at 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Ridout's Roebuck Chapel with graveside service at 11:00 AM at Forest Hills Cemetery. Dr. Charles F. Baker officiating. Ridout's Roebuck Chapel is directing.
