OBITUARY: Mrs. Maria Elberg Succumbs Monday - reprinted from the July 27, 1939 Lake City Graphic

Mrs. Maria Larsson Elberg passed away at her home Monday at the age of 93 years. Born in Lindesberg Vastmanland, Sweden on January 5, 1846, she came to the United States in 1878 and for the past 26 years she has been a resident of Lake City.

At Stockholm, Wis., on the 22nd day of April, 1882 she was united in marriage to Louis E. Elberg. To this union five children were born, three of whom are left to mourn her passing: Mrs. Selma Leaf and Elmer Elberg, Lake City; Mrs. Julia Carlson of Ellsworth, Wis., also two step children, Mrs. James L. Martin of Missoula, Mont., and Alfred Elberg of California, and four grandchildren.

Converted and baptized in Sweden she, upon her arrival in Lake City, became a member of the Calvary Baptist Church here, where she attended services regularly as long as her health permitted her to do so. In her passing, the church loses its oldest member.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Albert T. Sandstrom officiating. Interment was at the Oakwood Cemetery.
