OBITUARY
IDA SMOOT DUSENBERRY, WELL
KNOWN EDUCATOR, DIES AT 81
Ida Smoot Dusenberry, 81, 356 N. 1st E., died at Utah Valley Hospital Monday night following a short illness.
She was born May 5, 1873, in Salt Lake City, daughter of Abraham Owen and Christine Mortensen [Anne Kerstine *Mauritzen or Morrison] Smoot, and received her education in the Provo schools, graduating from Brigham Young University. She taught BY Elementary School kindergarten for many years and also taught at Brigham Young University, retiring from the psychology department in 1945.
She married George Albert Dusenberry in Provo and he died in 1898 [1901]. A member of the LDS Church, she was a counselor of the General Board of the Relief Society for 25 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Albert E. (Margaret) Terry, Provo; and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p. m. in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, with Bishop Thomas A. Wolsey, of the Provo Fifth Ward, officiating.
