Jean E. Griffis Smith, 69, of 1010 Cumberland Ave., W. Lafayette, died unexpectedly at 9:24 am Sunday in Home Hospital. Mrs. Smith was born Oct 14, 1922, in Stockwell. She was raised in Stockwell and was a lifelong Tippecanoe county resident. She married Kenneth L. Smith, Nov. 20, 1942, and he died May 25, 1981. Surviving are two daughters, Beverly Dieterle of Crawfordsville and Theresa Mounts of Lafayette; a son, Edward L. Smith of West Lafayette; a stepson, R. Gordon Smith of Lafayette; and two brothers, William H. Griffis of Champaign, Ill., and Dale Griffis of Lafayette.
