Wolfe City-S.F. Owens, 79, of Route 2, Celeste, died at 8:15 p.m. Thursday in a Bonham hospital following an illness of one week.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Owens Funeral Chapel in Wolfe City with Rev. R.A. Lechner officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery and pallbearers will be J.C. Anderson, Carl Lacy, Bob Felty, Ray Perkins, Leo Parish, A.L. McAbee and Glenn Thacker.
Born to Francis Marion Owens on July 14, 1895 in Fannin County, Mr. Owens was married in Wolfe City on Dec. 31, 1917 to Laura M. Cozby, who survives. He was a retired farmer.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Sim F. Owens of Wolfe City, Billy Don Owens of Corpus Christi, and Gerald Mead Owens of Denison; one daughter, Jo Ann Ethridge of Celeste; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
