Aunt Annle Buford, colored, was taken into the home of the Buford family, pioneer Tennessee folks, when she was seven years of age. In that famlly she grew up and came to Mayfield with
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Johnston, the latter being a Buford, and has since been in the Johnston family. Her record for continual service in the Buford family is sixty-five years.

Milk & Ice Fund.
L. O. Stephenson was donor of $1 to the Messenger Milk and Ice Fund yesterday. The fund is in need of cash money during the present depressing season, and all contributions will be appreciated by the leader of the work.
Dr. W. J. Johnston gave $1 today and Annie Buford 50 cents.

Pledges Being Made In Red Cross Drive
The First Baptist church has turned in $209 in pledges in the American Red Cross drive for $1,000 war relief money in Graves county, while the First Christian church membership has reported with $131. The first county donation comes from Con G. Wallis, Farmington, in the form of a $5 bill. The Sunnyside Homemakers Club gave $5, and Annie Buford gave $2 to be the first colored person making a donation.

"Little Annie"
One of Mayfield's best known citizens is dead. Annie Buford, 85, the tiny colored woman who came to Mayfield in 1908 with the family of William J Johnston, died yesterday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock. She had been ill since suffering a stroke in September.
Annie was born in Oxford, Mississippi, where her mother was a slave on the Buford plantation. She moved to Tennessee as a young girl and came to Mayfield in the early 1900's with Mr Johnston and the late Bessie Buford Johnston.
She resided in a small house at the rear of the Johnston home on North Seventh Street, and as she described herself was "one to myself", having no known relatives.
Funeral services were held at the Johnston home this afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev Herman M Gross and Dr D.M. Ausmus. Internment was in the Johnston family lot at Maplewood Cemetery. Pallbearers were E.L. Johnston, Clifton Boyd, L.O. Stephenson, O.M. Merritt, Jesse Kelly and Jim Quinn Shelton.
Annie was buried in her white cap and apron which she so proudly wore.
