WILLIAM HALE BOND, 68, a Lewiston doctor, died Sunday of a heart attack, at his home near the mouth of the Grand Ronde River south of Asotin.

He was born Dec. 3, 1927, to C.W. and Dorothy Hale Bond at Phoenix, Ariz. He attended school there. He served in the U.S. Navy after graduation from high school. He completed his undergraduate degree at Arizona State University at Tempe and had his medical training at Baylor University Medical School at Waco, Texas. He did post-graduate work at the University of Oregon Medical School Hospital at Portland. He practiced in Phoenix for several years.

He married Anna Fairfax Craig in 1950. She died in 1960.

He was twice since married.

He moved to Lewiston in 1962 to begin his practice. He was a founding member of Valley Medical Center at Lewiston. He was actively practicing medicine at Clearwater Medical Clinic at Lewiston at the time of his death. He had been active staff member at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center at Lewiston and Tri-State Memorial Hospital at Clarkston.

He had business interests locally, in Phoenix and in other areas of the country. In his spare time he managed his horse and hog farm along the Grand Ronde River. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his family.

The service will be held at noon Thursday at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Ernie Harrison of Lewiston will officiate. Private burial will follow the service. A reception will be held following the ceremony, directions will be available at the chapel lobby. Memorials may be made to Interlink or Valley Transit.
