Nick was born and lived most of his life in Hampton Roads, Virginia. He was the only son born to the union of his parents, Jacqueline Cock Ferraro and Nicholas F. Ferraro. Nick had one sibling, a younger sister. He was a 1965 graduate of Hampton High School. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps; he was assigned to the Marine 8TH&I Unit, Washington DC and was a Viet Nam Veteran. Nick was a self-employed carpet installer. He was preceded in death by his mother. Nick died of cancer in Hampton, Virginia, and was survived by his wife and two step-sons. He was also survived by his sister, his father (who passed in 2011), and two half-brothers (from father's second marriage).
