of the Lewiston Daily Sun:

"Leeds, March 19. -- S. Homer Deane, a life long resident died at his home Wednesday evening after a brief illness. He was born April 8, 1860, the son of Stephen R. and Victoria Turner. He was a successful farmer. He was educated in Leeds schools and Kent's Hill Seminary following which he was a teacher in Leeds schools for several years. He served as selectman, and was master of the Leeds Grange, of which he had been a member for several years. He attended the Universalist church. Mr. Deane is survived by his widow, a son Stephen R., two brothers, S. Howard of Monmouth, and Phillip Herbert of Leeds who was associated with Mr. Deane in farming. Also a sister Miss Abbie Deane of Leeds, who has made her home with him."
