Born in Athol on Dec. 12, 1919, she was a daughter of Corydon and Ella (Wyman) Richards and grew up in Athol.
She was married to Harold E. Baxter who predeceased her.
Employed by the L. S. Starrett Company in Athol for over 25 years before retiring, both she and her husband were members of the Starrett 25 Year Club.
Irene was a member of the Eastern Star.
She was an avid animal lover and had enjoyed raising sheep and horses on her property. She also had enjoyed shopping.
Survivors include her brother, Wesley Richards of North Carolina; and nephews, Rand Richards of New Hampshire and Ronald Richards of North Carolina; and a friend and neighbor who helped her, Jason Erali of Athol.
There are no calling hours.
Funeral services and interment in Quabbin Park Cemetery, Ware, will be private.
