Peter N. Koutrelakos, 55, of 135 South Road, Winthrop, ME, died Thursday, 15 Feb 1990 at his home. Born 17 Oct 1934 in Dover, the son of Nicholas and Trianthi (Morakos) Koutrelakos, he was a longtime resident of Dover prior to coming to Maine. He was educated in the Dover school system and graduated from high school at El Cahon, CA, and graduated from the University of NH with a degree in biochemistry. He graduated from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and was a registered pharmacist in NH and ME. He worked for Brook's Drug in Rumford and was formerly a pharmacist at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover, NH and also taught at the U. of NH. He served four years with the US Navy as a muscian, touring the country with the Navy Band. He had played with jazz groups for many years and was a member of the Augusta Symphony and had composed the song, "Christmas in New England," which was played at the Christmas Concert in December 1989. He also taught music. He received the Chevalier Degree in DeMolay and was a member of the Ahepa of Dover, NH, Thesslem Chapter No. 248. He worked with the NH Soap Box Derby and coached youth sports in Dover for many years. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation of Dover, NH and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Lewiston, where he was a member of the choir and had served on both church councils. Members of his family include his wife, Theresa G. (Stauner) Koutrelakos of Winthrop; three sons, Gregory Koutrelakos of Alphretta, GA, Ken Koutrelakos of Phoenix, AZ, and Kevin Koutrelakos of Winthrop and Phoeniz, AZ; one daughter, Cynthia Koutrelakos of Dover, NH; one grandchild; two brothers, Gregory Koutrelakos of Dover, NH, and William Koutrelakos of Baltimore, MD; five sisters, Doris Story of Exeter, NH, Helen Kinkaid of Dover, NH, Georgianna Galas of San Diego, CA, Mary Lane of Dover, NH and Harriety McKenna, of Helena, MT; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Ted Koutrelakos. Relatives and friends are invited to call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave, Dover, NH. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation. Burial will be in the Greek Cemetery in the Spring.
