Mrs. Marguerite Hoffman, wife of Arthur M. Hoffman, 825 West Sixth, died at 3 a.m. Monday at the home after a year’s illness. She was a daughter of the Late Christopher and Ida McDaniel and was born in Hannibal, Mo., coming to Sedalia with her parents when a small child.
She was married to Arthur M. Hoffman, head of the Hoffman Hardware Co., on Sept. 21, 1911, at the First Congregational Church. Through the years since she had been active in church and civic endeavors. For a term of years she worked at the Sedalia Public Library and at the time of her death was a member of the library board. She attended the University of Missouri when a young woman and was a member of the Kappa Kappa sorority. She belonged to Sorosis, the DAR, was chairman staff assistant of the Pettis Chapter, American Red Cross, and a member of the Federated Congregational – Presbyterian Church. For many years she had also been active in the PTA.
Surviving besides her husband is a son, Charles Philip Hoffman, and wife Ruth, 611 West Seventh, three grandchildren, Charles Philip Jr., Arthur C., and Jan Lea Hoffman, and a cousin, Thomas Kelk, Dallas, Tex. One son died in infancy.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Federated Church, the pastor, the Rev. Leonard Reifel, officiating. Mrs. Frank Yeager sang “Somewhere” and “In The Garden”, with Miss Mabel DeWitt at the organ.
Pallbearers were Oren Chappel, Dr. Lawrence Geiger, Oscar Major, Will Hurlbut, James Van Wagner, Sr., and William Carl.
Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery.
