Visitation and Services
William Bertrand, age 89, of Floydada, passed away, Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Floydada with Les Hall officiating. Burial will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Moore Rose Funeral Home of Floydada. Visitation with the family will be from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.

Obituary
William was born August 27, 1922 in Clifton, Tx to Hallie and P.F Bertrand. The family moved to Floyd County when he was 10 years old, and he resided there ever since with the exception of his military service years. William joined the Army Air Corp in 1942 and was a B-24 pilot, stationed in Italy. Captain Bertrand received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal for his services.

William married Vera Faye Battey in 1943 in Mission, Tx. They farmed and ranched until he retired in 1987. He served on many community and agricultural boards throughout his lifetime and was awarded the Floydada Volunteer of the year in 1997. "Uncle Willie" especially enjoyed his service as an EMT for the Floydada Hospital District. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. Willie enjoyed traveling, family and friends, fishing, singing, and dancing.

Survivors include his wife, Faye; three children, Ronald and wife Betty of Lubbock, Randy and wife Connie, and Jill and husband Martin Warren both of Floydada. He had six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother Harold Bertrand and sister-in- law Helen Bertrand.
