MRS. FRED DOTY DIES AT HOME IN PONTIAC SUNDAY, AUGUST 21
Former Clare County Lady Laid At Rest In Cherry Grove Cemetery Tuesday
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Fred Doty, of Pontiac, at the Clare Congregational Church Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, with Rev. Charles Kleinhardt officiating, and interment in Cherry Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were conducted by the Voorhees Funeral Home of Pontiac.
Sarah Abbott was born the daughter of John and Catharine Abbott, in Lapeer County, Michigan, on July 10th, 1870. In 1894 she was married to Fred Doty, of Greenwood township, Clare county, and for the past 20 years they have made their home in Pontiac, where she passed away August 21st, 1949.
She came to Clare county when a young lady, residing for a number of years in the Brown community, and with her husband, lived at Cadillac several years before moving to Pontiac. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Pontiac.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one brother, Will Abbott, of Pemberton, California; one sister, Mrs. James Mizer, of Pontiac; an uncle, Thomas Abbott, of Clare; a number of nieces, nephews, including Mrs. Frank Rillett, Mrs. Olive Robinette and John Acre, of Clare; and other relatives. Attending the services were relatives and friends from Pontiac, Hastings, Harrison and Clare.
