Darrell Walkemeyer, 83, of Vancouver, Washington passed away April 16, 2012. He was born in Fairberry, Nebraska, March 21, 1929 to Fred and Hazel Walkemeyer.

He received his Associates degree in aviation and worked as an Aircraft Mechanic for Hughes Airwest, and as an Aircraft Inspector for Northwest Airlines.

Darrell enjoyed flying airplanes, hiking, and word jumbles. He loved traveling, his German heritage and learning Russian. He was a member of the Rock Creek Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Battle Ground, Washington.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; three sons, Michael Malone, Newberg, OR; David Malone, Lake Oswego, OR; and Karl Walkemeyer, Goldendale, WA; six daughters, Laurie Walkemeyer, Hood River, OR; Terri Pryne, Portland, OR; Lisa McCoy, Phoenix AZ; Michelle Bladine, McMinnville, OR; Denise Mayfield, Spokane, WA and Christine Mox, Battle Ground, WA; 32 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; brother Duane Walkemeyer, Roseburg, OR, and sister Yvonne McGrew, Newberg, OR.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Colletta Walkemeyer.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Lewisville Park Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Battle Ground, Washington.
