ANTHONY CAIN, FORMER HARLAN COUNTY RESIDENT DIES IN ARIZONA


13 July 1907----27 June 1992


Anthony "Tony" Cain was born on July 13, 1907 near Republican City, Nebraska to Alice J. Hannagan and Daniel F. Cain and died on Saturday, June 27, 1992 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Tony attended school in Republican City and Orleans, Nebraska and graduated from Marquette University in 1933. Tony married Mary M. (Mae) Kieffer on Aug. 5, 1931. She died suddenly in 1957. He later married Mary Jane Pomeroy McKain and she died in 1990 after a lengthy illness. Tony was a Project Engineer for large construction companies in the Baltimore, Md., Milwaukee, Wisc. and Detroit, Michigan areas during his working career. He retired in 1974 and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. He was Building Committee chairman and was instrumental in building the new St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church in Scottsdale. Tony was a devout member of St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church in Scottsdale and a life time member of the Knights of Columbus and the Marquette club.


He is survived by one daughter, Frances M. Slote and husband, Stan of White Plains, New York, two granddaughters, Alice DuBon and Ann Johnson, one great-grandchild, a special grandniece, Jeanne Hoffman Koskinen and numerous other nieces and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by both parents, two wives, Mary M. (Mae) and Mary Jane, two brothers, Vincent and Francis J. Sr. and three sisters, Mother M. Zita, O.S.U., Mother M. Vincent, O.S.U. and Gussie Burbach.


Memorial Mass was held July 20, 1992 at St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church in Scottsdale, Arizona at 10:00 a.m. Body was cremated. Memorials are to be sent to St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church, 1030 Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85257.
