Russell Glenn "Codger" Butler, born July 31, 1934, died September 17, 2001. Mr. Butler retired from Stone Mountain Post Office in 1996 with 26 years of service, was a member of Stone Mountain Masonic Lodge since 1961 and a member of Stone Mountain First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by wife, Amelia P. Butler, son and daughter in-law, Brandon and Sinje Butler, Loganville; daughter, Rebecca Glynn Butler, Stone Mountain; granddaughters, Brenna and Ansley Butler, Loganville; brother, John Leonard Butler, Stone Mountain; many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to count.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 19 at 3:00 o'clock at Stone Mountain First United Methodist Church with Dr. Bill McKoy and Dr. Robert Allred officiating. The remains will lie in state at 2:00 p.m. at the Church. Burial, Bethel Community Cemetery. Stone Mountain Masonic Lodge No. 449 F. & A.M. will serve as honory escort and will have charge of graveside services.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 9:00 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations to Stone Mountain First United Methodist Church, 5312 W. Mountain St., Stone Mountain, 30083. Wages & Sons, Stone Mountain Chapel. 770-469-9811
