Poston (Special)---Lawrence E. Creel, Sr., 73, of Poston died at his home Thursday after an extended illness.
Mr. Creel was a retired merchant and farmer.
Funeral services will be conducted from Trinity Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Friday by the Rev. H. H. Reed and the Rev. E. B. Johnson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Creel was a son of the late Michael and Mary Ella Taylor Creel of Johnsonville and Kingstree, where he was born. He owned and operated a general mercantile firm at Poston for many years and also farmed. He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. He had been a Woodman of the World for more than 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pearl Eaddy Creel of Hemingway; two sons, L. E. Creel, Jr., Superintendent of the Hemingway area schools, and Harold J. Creel of Florence; three brothers, Ervin Creel of Pamplico, Clarence Creel of Johnsonville and Kister C. Creel of Baltimore, Md.; four sisters, Mrs. A. J. Cox of Johnsonville, Mrs. J. M. G. Eaddy and Mrs. Milton Chandler, both of Hemingway, and Mrs. Hamon R. Johnston of Gulfport, Miss., and 19 grandchildren; of Mr. Creel's two younger sons, G. Eaddy Creel died November 3, 1951, and Earl G. Creel died April 11, 1958.
