Name on headstone also lists Haleakala, this was Mothers maiden name. Davids parents were David Niau Haleakala and Louisa Kalanika Apelakaleiheana. David was married to Lei "Girlie" Ham Young. Their children were Michael, Steven, Wilma, Gail, Pearl, David Kawika and Momi.

Louis "Haleakala" Niau, 77, of Eleele, Kauai, a McCabe Hamelton Renny stevedore, died Friday in Kauai Veterans Hospital. Born in Hanalei, Kauai, he is survived by wife Lei H.Y.; sons Steven, David and Michael; daughters Wilma Mack, Coral M. Livingston, Pearl Kelii and Gail Masuda; brother William; sisters Hannah Kaili and Louisa Tachikawa; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. tomorrow at Kalaheo Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Call from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Burial: Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Casual attire.
