Mr. Grady B. Lake, Jr., age 80 of Crockett, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Lake was born January 4, 1926 in Crockett and had lived in Crockett all of his life. Mr. Lake was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in the Pacific Campaign during World War II. Mr. Lake was a member and past president of the Jay-cees and was also a member of the Search and Rescue. Mr. Lake was president of Kappa Alpha Fraternity at SMU and graduated with a BBA at North Texas University. Mr. Lake was a rancher, cotton farmer and businessman. Mr. Lake was an avid sailor and pilot and also a member of the First Baptist Church of Crockett. Mr. Lake will be missed by everyone that knew him.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Joanne E. Lake, of Crockett; son Mr. James Bryan Lake and his wife Rena New-ton, of Crockett; daughter Mrs. Elsie Anne Berry and her husband Dr. Nell M. Berry, of Jacksboro; sister Mrs. Hilda Davis and her husband Dr. Gilbert Davis, of Fort Worth; sister Mrs. Nita DeGrand, of Nacogdoches; six grandchildren David and M. Lake Berry, Shellye Harvey and husband Tony, Elizabeth Telford and husband Martin and Adam and Claire Lake; two great-grandchildren Alexis and D.J. Berry; and many other relatives and loved ones.
Preceded in death by his father Dr. Grady B. Lake, Sr. mother Mrs. Bertie LaRee Lake; and son Grady B. Lake, III.
Funeral Services for Mr. Grady B. Lake Jr. were held Tuesday, March 14, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Crockett with the Rev. Keeney Dickenson and the Rev. Shane Mize officiating. Interment followed in the Ever-green Memorial Park.
