She was born in Atchinson County, Kansas, the daughter of James and Ellen Griffin Bergin. She spent most of her life in the Holton community.
Mrs. Kunkler was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church at Holton.
She married George Lozelle Kunkler Aug. 27, 1928, at Holton. He died Feb. 28, 1949.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Hart, Augusta and Suzanne Biggs, Boulder, Colo.; three sisters,Betty Holmes and Mary Bergin, both at Wichita, and Polly Birney, Hill City; and three grandchildren.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at Holton. Mrs. Kunkler will lie in state an hour before service time Tuesday at the church. Memorial contribution may be made to the Beck-Bookman Library in Holton and sent in care of Kansas State Bank at Holton, 66436. Mercer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
