George E Atkins was born on May 1, 1863 in Entriken, the son of George and Margaret Atkins. He married Grace Margaret Parks, the daughter of William and Catherine Parks, of Entriken, on December 24, 1891. They were married in the Huntingdon Reformed Church, with the Rev. Mr. Shaeffer officiating. He was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Entriken and formerly a member of the Red Men. One of his earliest memories was when his family moved from Frankstown to Millerstown on the old canal there.
