Louise Caroline Kugler was the first child born to Karl and Pauline (Klenk) Kugler on October 20, 1886, in Maple River, (Emmet County) Michigan. She went by the name of Caroline.

Caroline taught herself to read and write English, as her parents spoke German in the home. She never attended school. She was a very kind and gentle person.

Caroline did not marry and lived on the farm in Maple River with her parents. She worked on the farm doing household chores.

Caroline died on May 28, 1931, at the age of 44. She is buried in the Maple River Township Cemetery, in Michigan, along with other family members.
