John Michael FLANIGAN was born to William Bernard FLANIGAN, b1860 and Elizabeth Lyda (or Lida) RIDGEWAY, b1858. John Michael FLANIGAN was married in 1902 to Hannah Belle PIATT (Annabelle or Belle) who was the daughter of William McCoy PIATT, b1846 and Julia Keagan, b1846. John and Belle FLANIGAN had 5 children together: Thomas Anthony (1905-1914), Elizabeth, Anna Pauline, Julia Bertha, and William A. (1918-1982). Hannah Belle died in 1925 while still married to John. John retired from the State Highway Department, and was also a music instructor in Springfield, Ohio, for 40 years in his off-duty time. John re-married to Augusta and then re-married after Augusta to Beulah with whom he was still married at his death. John Michael FLANIGAN is resting at Calvary in the same row as his son, William Aloysius John Michael FLANIGAN and his daughter, Julia Bertha FLANIGAN WELLS.

"JOHN M. FLANIGAN John M. Flanigan of 129 E. North St., died of a heart attack at 11 p.m. Sunday in his residence following several years of failing health. The Fire Division emergency squad was summoned to give aid but Mr. Flannigan" (Flanigan)"was pronounced dead on arrival of the crew. Mr. Flanigan had retired on his birthday June 25 from service with the State Highway Department. He had been a music instructor in the city for the past 40 years in his off-duty hours and was a former member of a number of fraternal organizations. Survivors include his widow Beulah; three daughters, Mrs. Vernon Canter, Pauline, and Mrs. Julia Schmittauer, all of Springfield; one son, William J. of Springfield; two step-daughters, Mrs. John Daugherty of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Mrs. William Meehan of 324 Yellow Springs St; four brothers, Thomas and Cletus of Spokane, Wash.; Paul of Detroit, and Joseph of Bellefontaine; one sister, Mrs. Leori Cook of Columbus; and nine grandchildren. The body was taken to the O'Brien-Kennedy Funeral home."
