- Find A Grave ID
I am semi-retired and very much enjoy tracing and documenting mine and my husband's family lines, along with the family lines of my grand-daughter. I, personally, am adamant about finding the supporting documentation. I firmly believe that the linking and bio on Find-A-Grave may assure visiting the intended family member. It is not unusual to find who appears to be a family member, but more researching shows they are not. I always try to note a discrepancy to help others not follow an incorrect line, or perhaps, make a trip to only find they have gone an incorrect route.
My sister, Angela, has done research for 30 years and travels within the United States to obtain supporting documentation. I have begun research with my sister over the last years. We have visited some very unique, isolated (some inactive), and some huge cemeteries. We have also spent countless hours at Historical Societies, as well as local Libraries with Genealogy sections, and many hours in courthouses going through amazing record books.
Most of the memorials that I have entered are one of our family lines. I will have to say here that the work done by others is so tremendous and dedicated and so very much appreciated.
If in research, I find a person who appears not to be on Find-A-Grave then I will add them, especially the little ones that have passed. I search several paths to make certain I have not duplicated. If you find a duplicate then there is no reason to be rude. Just let me know. Often times, it is simply a name spelling difference.
My father was William Aloysius John Michael FLANIGAN (son of John Michael FLANIGAN and Hannah Belle PIATT). My maternal grandparents were Joseph Bulgar FLANIGAN and Jennie Leath KNOWLES. My family lines include: Flanigan, Piatt, Knowles, Ridgeway, Key. My husband's, DJ, parents were Jerome Eugene JORDAN (son of Ishmael McCAFFERTY and Mildred JORDAN) and Dona Lucille ALBRIGHT(daughter of Alonzo ALBRIGHT and Elizabeth Jean BROWN). His family lines include: Jordan, McCafferty, Farmer, Stoneburner, Albright, Brown, Hulls, Reef, Culp, Wyman.
I enjoy sharing with my daughter who loves the stories and history. Currently, I am working with my daughter, Jami (J.C.P.), on her paternal family lines beginning with Pickard, Pressler, Leonard, and Kistler.
My time in research is divided with my time riding the Harley while vacationing and spending time with my grand-daughter, baby Michele (C.A.M.M.)whose paternal family lines I am also working beginning with Muse, Wallace, Witcher, and Leach.
Note on photos that I have posted: I am happy to share as many have shared with me. Feel free to use the photos that I have posted to help you along your path. And, many thanks to those who have willing and unselfishly shared with me and have very much helped me along our path to find our family - our precious loved ones!
