Son of Robert Goodloe Harper and Catharine "Kitty" Carroll. Every record I have found states that Robert, Jr. died in 1834 while a young man and returning home from his education in Europe. But, as you can see from his tombstone, he apparently did not die until 1854; I do not know the answer to this mystery.
