Funeral services for Mrs. John L. Nelson, mother of Lindsey Nelson, well-known sportscaster, were held Tuesday afternoon, January 14, at 2 o'clock in Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. W. D. Comperry and Dr. W. M. Ford officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Nelson died Saturday January 11, at her home in Columbia. She had been ill since December.
The former Miss Ozie Baker, she was a native of Giles County but had lived in Maury County since 1923.
Her son is a broadcaster for the New York Mets, and free lances for all three television networks. He lives in Long Island, N. Y.
Other survivors include her husband, John L. Nelson; another son, James L. Nelson, Norfolk, Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Edward G. Pennington, Columbia; a sister, Mrs. John W. Hayes, Columbia; and six grandchildren.
