Ellen J. Bateman, 81, formerly of Davenport, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2004, at the Wahiawa General Hospital, Wahiawa, Hawaii. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service with burial to follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society Building Fund.

Ellen was born June 5, 1922, in Davenport, to John and Marie (Berg) Mohr. In 1955 she moved to California and worked as a legal secretary for the District Attorney in Los Angeles, Calif. Ellen went on to work for Blue Cross and Blue Shield as an executive secretary, retiring after 16 years with them. After retiring, she moved to Hawaii to be nearer her son Terry.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Thekla Fuller.
