Obituary, Florida Times-Union, April 15, 2012
Betty Pounds Crawford, age 84, passed away April, 12, 2012 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born in Belmont, Ms. but was raised in Booneville, Ms. She was the youngest daughter of 9 children born to Warnie (Wroten) Pounds and prominent civic leader and banker Seth Pounds.

She was a shining star blessed with beauty, brains, and athleticism. She attended both Mississippi State College for Women and the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. In 1948 she met her future husband Bob Crawford on a blind date. They were married in August 1949. They moved often with his job and made many lifelong friends along the way, until his death in 1992. She was a very beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt.

She is survived by her two children Pat Fields (Ernie) and Bill Buddy Crawford (Carylyn), four grandchildren Rob Fields (Marie), Ryan Fields (Emily), Chelsea and Ashley Crawford, one great granddaughter Grace Fields and one surviving brother Dr. Billy D. Pounds, many nieces and nephews.

Betty was a beautiful southern Christian lady whose family was her utmost priority. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed taking her gifts from the kitchen to those in need of cheering up. She particularly loved spending time and cooking for her grandchildren. She loved her home in Marsh Creek and all her special neighbors there before moving to Cypress Village in 2008 due to declining health. Betty bravely fought the terrible disease of COPD for many years but kept that sweet smile and disposition despite her suffering. A very special thanks to Bethany and all the staff and caregivers of the Cypress Village assisted living who went above and beyond to care for Betty in her last days and especially to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Tamara, Rachel and Donna who lead her so sweetly into her new life.

We will celebrate her transition to her new life with Christ on Monday, April 16, 2012 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for a visitation and a funeral service on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 11:00am all services will be held at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, the funeral will be officiated by Pastor Ryan Fields and Rob Fields.
