Raymond Vander Leest, 74, of Pella, a native and former resident of the Galesburg area, died Sunday, March 27, at the Pella Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Pella third Reformed church.

The Rev. Ralph Menning will conduct services.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Friends may call at Royce's Funeral Home in Pella today and visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Josephine; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Joyce of Des Moines, Dean and Florrie of Ankeny and Richard and Jan of Russellville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and John Newendorp of Leighton and Rayma and Melvin Rozendaal of Sully; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Grace (Mrs. Arie) Van Haaften and Marie (Mrs. Danny) Dieleman, both of Pella.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Vander Leest was a member of the Pella Third Reformed Church.

The son of Richard and Maggie Duinink Vander Leest, he was born Oct. 13, 1919 in the Galesburg area and grew up and was educated in the Galesburg area.

He was married to Josephine De Vries Aug. 7, 1940 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua.

Mr. Vander Leest was employed for 23 years by Van Gorp Manufacturing Co. in Pella and for 22 years at the Municipal Power Plant in Pella. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, March 1994.
